CBC News in Review is a subscription series of 8 - one hour educational programs hosted by a CBC journalist and news anchor and featuring CBC correspondents.
It has been designed by teachers for an integrated curriculum and is an effective learning tool for current events, social studies, Canadian studies, global studies, history, social science, media literacy, English and E.S.L. Each CBC News in Review segment is carefully crafted to give students and teachers a timely and concise examination of Canadian and world issues. Footage from CBC's archives helps provide historical context. News in Review is also closed captioned.
Alberta Education has acquired the license for these programs and a year's subscription is available for purchase through the Learning Resources Centre (LRC). The regular cost recovery price of the individual programs is $16.00 each or $128.00 for the 8 months, however if you order the subscription by September 22, 2011, the price will be determined at the end of CBC News in Review order period once all the orders have been consolidated. You will receive a confirmation order with the final cost based on the number of orders received.
Please note: The programs will be available on the Online Reference Centre at LearnAlberta.ca.
The CBC News in Review Subscription order period will be from September 1, 2011 - September 22, 2011.
Although you will order all 8 programs in this period, the orders will be shipped and invoiced each month as they become available.
During the subscription order period you can access the CBC News in Review products only after logging on as a registered Alberta K-12 customer.
In the online services menu select CBC News in Review Subscription you can enter your order for the subscription.
Individual monthly programs may be purchased after September 22, 2011. At this time the CBC News in Review product information will be available through our regular search functions. Please note the subscription pricing is only in effect if you order during the CBC News in Review Subscription order period.
Schools may retain programs for the life of the DVD, that is, a non-erasure clause is in effect.
