Provincial Microsoft License for Office TM
In October 2004, the Ministry signed a three-year agreement with Microsoft Canada and a follow-up agreement with a Microsoft Large Account Reseller that made Microsoft Office software available across the K-12 learning system at no cost to school boards. The renewed three-year Provincial Microsoft Licensing (PML) agreement with Microsoft, and a new reseller agreement with Acrodex Inc., will ensure that all K-12 schools have continued access to Microsoft Office licensing. Costs for this initiative will continue to be funded by Alberta Education. As well, the new agreement encompasses license renewals for Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 and includes full downgrade rights for all previously supported versions of Microsoft Office. This agreement will remain in effect until June 30, 2010.
